I just purchased a Father’s Day gift for my husband. I don’t normally get him anything since he’s not my dad, but I wanted to do something special for him this year. He’s been under a ton of pressure lately, and I just wanted to cheer him up a little. When my daily deal email came in with an offer for fly fishing lessons, I bought it. I knew it was something he has always wanted to try but would never do it for himself.
I can hear him now, though. You shouldn’t have spent the money. I don’t really have the time. I don’t even know if I will like it. And yet, once he goes I know how glad and grateful he will be that I pushed him to go. He may discover that he loves fly fishing. Or not. That’s not the point! The point is, he needed the encouragement–and permission–to try.
I’m thankful that God is like that. He nudges me to step out, to try something new, to follow my dreams. I drag my feet, make excuses; and yet, in the end, I am so thankful that he nudged me to step out.
The women we minister to also need someone to believe in them…to encourage them…to nudge them! What an opportunity we have to help them become the women God is calling them to be!
