Summer is approaching and many of us will see quarantine restrictions start to lift in the coming months.
Whether that means summer break for the parents-turned-teachers or back to the office for the working women, we all deserve a break. On the surface, quarantine sounds restful; but for many, it’s been anything but! We need real, stress-free rest—and we need it right now! Here are a few ideas for a mini-vacation that you can take today, right in the comfort of your own home or neighborhood:
- Lock yourself in the bathroom for a bubble bath.
- Hide in your car and read a magazine—no one will ever look for you there!
- Go for a long walk.
- Turn off the phone, the computer, and all other devices, and take a nap.
And on those days when things feel out of control, remember that true rest and peace come from God.
Here are a few verses to encourage you to turn to God:
“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” Isaiah 26:3
“I will bless the Lord who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.” Psalm 16:7-8
“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.” Psalm 4:8
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27
