Read Philippians 4:8-9. Read it again and reflect for a moment. These are such great words to refocus our minds today.

Troubles, fear, uncertainty, and pain surround us. These things constantly battle for our attention. We easily fixate on the cares and concerns of this world and end up paralyzed or bogged down with these burdens.

The encouragement from Philippians is just what we need to hear today. A decision needs to be made to mind our mind. To think about, and even more, to dwell on the things that are excellent and praiseworthy. The things that are true and honorable. Things that are both right and lovely.

Why? The answer is found at the end of verse 9: “the God of peace will be with you.”

We could use that! The God of peace to reign in our minds. To have our attention and focus drawn back to the God of peace.

Let’s mind our minds today and focus on those things that are true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and worthy of praise!

“Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.” —Philippians 4:8-9

Dear God, help my mind focus on you today. Draw my attention to truth, purity, and excellence so that I can experience you and your perfect peace. Amen.
