Summer is here and many of us will be taking vacations.
But sometimes it’s too hard to wait for that official week away from it all. We need rest—and need it right now! A few ideas for a mini-vacation that you can take today:
- Lock yourself in the bathroom for a bubble bath.
- Hide in your car and read a magazine—no one will ever look for you there!
- Go for a long walk.
- Turn off the phone, the computer, and all other devices, and take a nap.
And on those days when things feel out of control, remember that true rest and peace come from God.
Here are a few verses to encourage you to turn to God:
“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” Isaiah 26:3
“I will bless the Lord who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.” Psalm 16:7-8
“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.” Psalm 4:8
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” 1 Peter 5:7
Listening to music (and singing along!) can provide a mini-vacation too. Try the Music of Café Chocolate for worship songs that will lift your heart.
